Announcement of “Cultural Walks” and Workshops for the general public and for schools
The Municipality of Drama implements the Act “Upgrading the cultural experience in the urban fabric of Drama”, funded by the Regional Operational Programme of the Regional Operational Programme of the Amethi Region 2014-2020, which aims to highlight the golden age of tobacco in Drama (1840-1940), through the presentation of the stories and the protagonists of ten monuments located in the historical centre of Drama and beyond. Specifically, these are the Tobacco Warehouse and the Anastasiadis Mansion (1875), the Railway Station (1895), the Portokaloglou Tobacco Warehouse (1904), the School of the Orthodox Community of Drama (1909), the Protopapa Tobacco Warehouse, formerly Michaelides (1912), the Olympia Theatre (1920), the Spierer Tobacco Warehouse (1925), the Tzimou Mansion, Brigade (1925), the Fais Mansion (1927), and the National Bank (1928).
The aim of the Act is the sustainability of heritage management projects, cooperation and inclusiveness in the local community, and the promotion of modern cultural tourism as a worthwhile experience, with a minimum inflexible prerequisite of awareness of the importance of their local cultural resources.
In the framework of the implementation of the Act and in cooperation with the contractor company “DOMI ANAPTYΞIS IKE”, the following are to be carried out:
– Ten (10) Cultural Walks for the general public
– Ten (10) Cultural Walks for schools
– Two (2) workshops for “local cultural guides”
– One (1) educational workshop for school teachers
The Cultural Walks and Workshops will take place from 9 to 15 May 2023, as follows:
Tuesday 9 May 2023: School Walks
Wednesday 10 May 2023: School Walks
Thursday 11 May 2023: School Walks & Walks for the general public
Friday 12 May 2023: Walks for the general public & Workshop for teachers
Saturday 13 May 2023: Workshops for Local Cultural Escorts
Sunday 14 May 2023: Walks for the general public
Monday 15 May 2023: School Walks
For school walks and walks for the general public, the meeting point and venue is The Spearer Smokehouse.
The workshop for school teachers will take place on Friday 12 May 2023 at the Town Hall of Drama (Vermiou 2 & 1 July – P.C. 66100 – Drama).
The two (2) workshops for the general public will be held on Saturday 13 May 2023 at the Town Hall of Drama (Vermiou 2 & 1 July – P.O. 66100 – Drama) and, as the number of participants is limited, only pre-booking is required.
Participation is free of charge and a Certificate of Participation will be issued.
Participation in the workshops and cultural walks is free of charge for everyone.
